Every May, KMLA holds a traditional coming-of-age ceremony. Dressed in Korean traditional formal attire, senior year students are welcomed into adulthood in a ritual celebrated both by parents and teachers. First, the headmaster and teachers give words of blessings, and students show their gratitude by bowing deeply in reply. After the bows, teachers walk through the aisles to crown students with hats of adulthood. Then, with choreographed elegance, students exchange hand-picked tea with parents. Next, the students are bestowed with their second name which symbolizes the start of their adulthood. Lastly, students receive their Coming-of-Age presents and bow again. And thus, through this ceremony, students embark upon a new journey in life.
